What I Learned in Second Quarter English 10

I have learned many things in my English class with Ms. Priester this year. I learned how to use irony and the I now fully understand the full meaning of it. I also learned how to use technology towards my advantage. We learned how to find websites that help us understand the meanings to words and bookmark them in another website for our future reference we need a definition to another word from the same website. I love coming into Ms. Priester's classroom because it makes me feel so much smarter because she talks to us as if we are matured adults. Class is very interesting and I'm constantly learning whether its about Technology and Engligh. It is cool how we can learn from both in one class.

"Lamb to The Slaughter" I'm The Detective

If I was a detective investigating the murder of Patrick Maloney in “Lamb to the Slaughter” by Roald Dahl, I would have searched every square inch of the premises. I would not of took the wife being nice into consideration. While in the house the wife was the only known person around and was very much a contender to be the murderer. I would of searched the kitchen too and took any object big enough to kill a man into forensics for DNA or anything else I could find from an object as such. This way I would of found the murderer.

Irony Graphic Organizer

The woman in the story "Lamb to the Slaughter" was giggling at the end of the story because she got away with murder and she knew it. She had the officers eat the evidence and therefore she could never be caught for the murder of her husband. She knows she did something wrong but with the intelligience she had, she was able to find a solution and get away with the murder which is pretty hard to do.

Surprise Ending Paragraph

I was very interested in the end of the story we read in class. The lady who had murdered her husband was very clever in the actions leading up to the cops showing up at her doorstep. She created her own allibi by going to the store, knowing that the cops would asked. She acted normal to make nothing noticeable and make a perfect get away with murder.

Situational Irony In My Life

I have not had very many situational irony occurrences in my life but there is one in particular that stands out. When I was seven years old, my dad tried to force me to play baseball and said that I could be good at it if I tried, but at the time I had hated baseball because I hated the feeling of having to wear a glove the whole game. So my dad signed me up and payed a hundred dollars for me to play and told me I had to. I followed his orders and went through with the season. By mid season I realized I was getting a lot better at the sport and I had real potential. I played every season since then. I have played seven years of baseball and won championships five of those years. Now I find myself with a deep passion for baseball and the hope that I will make a career out of it.
