What I Learned in Second Quarter English 10

I have learned many things in my English class with Ms. Priester this year. I learned how to use irony and the I now fully understand the full meaning of it. I also learned how to use technology towards my advantage. We learned how to find websites that help us understand the meanings to words and bookmark them in another website for our future reference we need a definition to another word from the same website. I love coming into Ms. Priester's classroom because it makes me feel so much smarter because she talks to us as if we are matured adults. Class is very interesting and I'm constantly learning whether its about Technology and Engligh. It is cool how we can learn from both in one class.

"Lamb to The Slaughter" I'm The Detective

If I was a detective investigating the murder of Patrick Maloney in “Lamb to the Slaughter” by Roald Dahl, I would have searched every square inch of the premises. I would not of took the wife being nice into consideration. While in the house the wife was the only known person around and was very much a contender to be the murderer. I would of searched the kitchen too and took any object big enough to kill a man into forensics for DNA or anything else I could find from an object as such. This way I would of found the murderer.

Irony Graphic Organizer

The woman in the story "Lamb to the Slaughter" was giggling at the end of the story because she got away with murder and she knew it. She had the officers eat the evidence and therefore she could never be caught for the murder of her husband. She knows she did something wrong but with the intelligience she had, she was able to find a solution and get away with the murder which is pretty hard to do.

Surprise Ending Paragraph

I was very interested in the end of the story we read in class. The lady who had murdered her husband was very clever in the actions leading up to the cops showing up at her doorstep. She created her own allibi by going to the store, knowing that the cops would asked. She acted normal to make nothing noticeable and make a perfect get away with murder.

Situational Irony In My Life

I have not had very many situational irony occurrences in my life but there is one in particular that stands out. When I was seven years old, my dad tried to force me to play baseball and said that I could be good at it if I tried, but at the time I had hated baseball because I hated the feeling of having to wear a glove the whole game. So my dad signed me up and payed a hundred dollars for me to play and told me I had to. I followed his orders and went through with the season. By mid season I realized I was getting a lot better at the sport and I had real potential. I played every season since then. I have played seven years of baseball and won championships five of those years. Now I find myself with a deep passion for baseball and the hope that I will make a career out of it.

After reviewing the Voxopop discussion, I would like to persuade people to become houseparents, take San Pasqual students on field trips, or why people should donate to us kids at San Pasqual. You may listen to my class’s discussion here.

Students & Self Passes

Students at San Pasqual Academy should be allowed to go on self pass because just like other people in the real world, we deserve our freedom. They treat us like we are monsters on this campus. It has gotten to the point where I can't even be myself in my own house. I have to think about every sentence before I let it out of my mouth because I can't be myself without constantly getting in trouble in my current house. Staff constantly have an eye on us and show no type of trust whatsoever. They treat us as if we are felons because we are under the title of a Foster Kid. I feel that adults should open their eyes and realize we are normal teenage kids who deserve a normal life. It is not our faults for the most part that we are in the position we are in. This is why I feel we should have self passes.

Theme Comparison Essay

Marcus B & Joseph B
Period 4 English 10
Final Draft
Theme Comparison Essay

People regret sacrificing valuables in order to impress people. This happens often in a person’s lifetime. The actions of your peers may affect the way you act due to peer pressure. “The Bass, the River, and Sheila Mant” and “Catch the Moon” are somewhat similar in themes. Both books have an individual character that changes due to another individual’s expectations or standards.
“The Bass, the River, and Sheila Mant” the main character is the narrator. The main conflict in the story is the fish that the narrator caught and the reason why he let it go. The resolution was to continue fishing, to quit liking Sheila, and to move on being himself and not changing for anyone else. The main character changes his hobbies, goals, and motivations just because of a girl. For example, in the book the two characters were on a date and they were sailing to a carnival. The narrator threw a line out to catch a fish while they were sailing, and out of embarrassment and trying to fit in with her he cut the line to one of the biggest fish he’d ever caught. Similar to the second book the theme are people regret sacrificing valuables in order to impress people. Especially if it’s to do something negative in your life.
In “Catch the Moon” the main character is Luis Cintron. The main conflict of the story was that Luis had to find a hubcap for this girl that he thought hated him, and he wanted to change that and make her like him. This is only so because he liked her. The conflict was resolved by Luis finding the hubcap, polishing it as much as possible, then at midnight delivering it to Naomi’s window. For example, in the story he stated that “ ..he waited to give to her the first good thing that he had given anyone in a long time.” This shows that he is obviously doing something different than usual. But by doing so means that he is changing and the only reason why he is changing is because of Naomi, all because he wants her to like him. So, like the first book the theme is people regret sacrificing valuables in order to impress people. Except this time it was to change him from a hooligan to a gentleman.
“The Bass, The River, and Sheila Mant” and “Catch the Moon” have very similar themes. This is so because in each book a character changes in response to another character. Each main character in every book, like an individual in real life, gets influenced and changes to impress their peers or just to fit in. This act is wrong. People should be themselves and no one should change that. The main character of each story did, regardless if it was for a good or bad cause.

"Catch The Moon" Grief Paragraph

The change Luis experiences after he address the grief he feels for his mother’s death is believable. He starts to change. He begins hanging out with the wrong crowd of people who get him in trouble and start leading him to a life of mistakes and mishaps. He got in trouble for breaking and entering a house in which his friends dared him to do. He was sent to juvenile hall and when he got back he had to do community service which meant working with his father at the family junkyard. In real life a kid might do the same things with the passing away of a loved one. The person might turn rebellious. By dealing with grief people are able to get past a loss of a loved one.

SPA Movie & Games Day

To start the day off Friday, we watched the movie Freedom Writers which was very interesting and kept me focused on the movie throughout all of it. I loved the movie. After that we played basketball and Joe and I had this hilarious costume we wore for pregame warmups. He and I were planning it out the whole night before since we were roomates. Broderick, Joseph, Shaurice, Isaac and I led the Sophomores to victory over both the Juniors and Seniors. It was a great day. I loved it.

Homeroom Reform Essay

Homeroom Reform
I have a dream, that society and classrooms will one day form together to make a Super Class classified by technology of overwhelming content and outrageous experiences. For example, class today with technology can change a student’s perspective and learning tactics to achieve a better grade. Now imagine all classes throughout the day with technology in the society we live in today that is overwhelmed with computers and Internet, and then compare the difference of achievement from each class. The statistics would be astounding! The campus of San Pasqual Academy, a foster youth based school, can and will improve with use of the grant and the provided technology that comes along with it.
There are 510,000 foster kids in the U.S. and only 15,300 of these kids graduate high school. That is only 30% that passed, so where are the other 70%? And why didn’t they pass? Although we are not sure we guess and estimate using hypothesis and tactics to test if they help. But what we do know and we are sure of is only 15% of these foster kids go to college, and that’s only 2,295 kids! Those kids that go to college are only about 6.6% of the kids that have graduate from high school. The statistics are ridiculous and these numbers are unbelievable. Statistics also state that students do better at work with some sort of aid or assistance. So, my theory is to assist us with technology, technology that can be easily provided with a prize-winning grant.
The only technology used at San Pasqual Academy is in English class, and in this class we’ve never used a sheet of paper for an assignment. Our teacher is really focused on our education for out futures and specifically assigns technical assignments using different websites to educate our abilities on how to use and manage our technical skills. For example, we have vocabulary words we write in our presentation and to record them we have our own class Wikipedia. Anyone can access this Wikipedia and change it if it contains an error or if it just needs to be completed. This comes to show technology does help students be more successful and organized.
Apparently there is a problem within society in the terms of students graduating from high school which is probably the most important achievement to earn in life. It is also apparent that reasons for this is lack of money from the government to meet the standards for tools in the classroom. From my observations a class with more technology helps a student learning to cope with a life that is heading down a technological path because society is becoming more revolved around computers and with the help of money, we can be equipped with the computers that would for one help us for the future and for two give us a better way of learning our lessons.
Hopefully we will be able to earn this grant and help a dream become reality.I wrote this essay with Joseph Bakhit. We wrote it for the KNSD Homeroom Reform Essay Contest.

SPA Theme Song

I believe that the SPA theme song should be Misunderstood by Lil Wayne. This song should be the theme song because on this campus many of the staff do not understand where kids on this campus are coming from and are quick to assume rather than help out a kid, therefore, they misunderstand us children because they do not have a full understanding of why we do the things we do. I'm sure many of us kids feel misunderstood and wish many of us could be understood. This is the song that should be the theme of SPA.

“’The Bass, the River, and Shelia Mant’ Airhead Stereotype.”

I believe that nobody should be titled as an airhead because nobody knows their true talent better than they do. Nobody knows how smart somebody is other than the person themselves and maybe their parents. Nobody should be stereotyped as an airhead because everyone gains knowledge on their own experiences and from their own interests. This is my take on the stereotyping of a so called "airhead".

Internal & External Conflicts in "The Bass, The River, & Sheila Mant"

In the story "The Bass, The River, & Sheila Mant" their were internal and external conflicts. An external conflict in this story is that W.D. Wetherell had deep emotions about a girl named Sheila Mant. He really liked this girl but he did not know if she liked him or felt the same way. In internal conflict is that he knew he had a big fish on the line but he didn't want to reel it in because he thought Sheila would judge him for liking to fish. As a result of the conflicts the narrator realizes that some choices that are made in life might not always be the way they think that choice is going to end up.

"Catch the Moon" Falling in Love

Falling in love teaches the person falling in love many assets of a relationship starting with trust, loyalty, no disrespect, and a true feeling of caring for someone far more than anyone can imagine. I've experienced love and it was the best thing ever but when you have to get past the person you fell in love with it is one of the hardest things anyone will have to go through. It's a horrible feeling but at the same time it opens up other opportunities. You realize you will always have love for that person you once felt love for because they will always be in your heart. When falling in love, people are motivated by true feeling that you can trust, be loyal, and make sacrifices you would never think you would ever had made. That is my opinion on love.

“’The Highwayman’ and ‘Typhoid Fever’ Comparison.”

In both of the stories they are dealing with two characters that are struggling to be together with an outside force. Other people are trying to keep the two characters in "Typhoid Fever" are kept away from eachother by the nurses and nuns in the place the characters are being kept at. In "The Highwayman" the two characters are being kept away from eachother because one of them is a robberer and officers are trying to have him killed because of the crimes he has commited. It is important for Frank to hear what happened at the end of the story because he realizes the reality of life and how harsh it can be.

Typhoid Fever- Present Tense Childhood Memory

It is September 15th 2008 and it is my brothers birthday. My grandparents rented a jumper for him and it was sitting out in the backyard. My brother and I's best friends are over the house to jump on it and celebrate my brothers birthday with us. We finally decide to go jump inside the jumper. While jumping we decided it would be fun to play six flags up which is a game that is played by throwing a ball up and the first one to catch it six times wins. After a couple times of it being thrown up, I was winning by two. "I need one more to win" I said to myself, so I went all out for it. I dove for the ball and just as I did, my friend did also. He is a pretty big guy and his whole body landed on my foot. It bent one of my toes so bad that it broke my pinky toe. I didn't go to school for the rest of the week. Looking back at it a week after makes me smile because although it hurt, it was one of the funnest days of my life.

"The Cold Equation" Marilyn's Point of View

The name of the story is "The Cold Equation". It is written in third person-limited point of view. The new point of view is in third person-limited also but it is told and primary focusing on the thoughts and feelings of Marilyn. In the story they talk more about the pilot, but if it were told by Marilyn, we would have a better understanding of how she felt throughout the whole experience. In the story, we knew how Barton felt about having to end the life of the young girl, but if it were told by Marilyn we would know her feelings. Point of view really effects the story because with the thoughts and feelings, it makes a story more sentimental and heart filled.

The Storyteller- Memorable books from my childhood

1. Green Eggs and Ham, Dr. Seuss
2. Cat in the Hat, Dr. Seuss
3. Red Fish Blue Fish One Fish Two Fish, Dr. Seuss
4. Morton Hears a Who, Dr. Seuss
5. Clifford the Big Red Dog

My favorite books were Dr. Seuss books because I loved to rhyme. To this day I rap and it interested me when I hear rhymes and it just amazed me how cool it was. I will never forget these books because they inspired me to rhyme. I love them.

Cafeteria Line from Different Points of View

First Person
Just the other day I was standing in the lunch line with my friends. I was extremely hungry but Sally up ahead kept horse playing with other kids in the line which held the line up. It kept me waiting ten minutes just to get my food and when I got it, I demolished it.

Third Person-Omniscient
One day last week there was a problem in the lunch line. Sally kept horseplaying with others which caused Bill and Russel to get angry because they were starving from a long day. The cook was getting annoyed so then she kicked Sally to the back of the line and the problem was solved.

Third Person- Limited
Sally was in the lunch line on Wednesday and was hungrier than she had ever been. Another student kept horseplaying which held up the line and Sally kept thinking to herself how badly she wanted her food. The girl was kicked to the back of the line which made Sally extremely happy and she finally got to eat.

Chillean Minors Rescue

It is very sad that anybody should have to be stuck in a place for a long period of time. Its not only that they are stuck but their families have to worry about if they are going to die before they are rescued or if they will make it. It is unfortunate that people have to go through this for a job's sake. It is very unfortunate that these people have to go without for such a long period of time. I feel very bad and all I can do is just pray for those who are stuck in situations such as these.

Essay Reflection

Overall on my autobiographical narrative, I think I did pretty well and I am proud of myself. I had a very good introduction which I normally am not good at. I also did well in tying my thoughts with actions which gave more detail to the story. I did a pretty good job in tying in my flashback before my slam dunk. Some things I could do differently is pay attention to my grammar, finish strong with a good conclusion, and be more descriptive. What Ms.Priester can do to make me a better writer is to keep being the great teacher that she is.

"Two Kinds" Mother & Daughter Conflict

In the story "Two Kinds" there is a conflict between a mother and a daughter. The mother is trying to lead her daughter into the right direction by becoming a prodigy while the daughter feels as if she is being forced to do these things. If I had to choose a side I would side with the daughter because I would be very upset with my mother if she had done this to me also. Every young person has the right to decide want they want to be or what they want to do in life and this is why I choose to side with Jing-Mei.

"Two Kinds" Summary Poem

This here is a story of young forced prodigy
A name of Jing-Mei who feels misery from her mother
A young American family that originated in China
A dissapointed mother of the mistakes from her "pleading child"
She is a rebel of practice to piano because it is not the schedule she desires
A daughter feeling dead beacause she realized her try for beauty may not be for best
Takes notes on keys in a lesson to win a sentimental trophy of a strong-willed girl
Tears fall from the audience on the bench shaking while watching the talent show
Mr.Chong watches as she memorizes her waverly notes
Babies or prodigy of Shirley Temple is the capital goal other than college
What was once felt as betrayal evolved to a genius act that ended in a repetetive clap

"Two Kinds" In The Shoes of a Prodigy

If I was in the shoes of the young prodigy, I would be very determined to be the best of my ability especially with all the effort the adults around me would be giving me. I would take advantage of every oppertunity I got as long as I have my freedom. It may be frustrating at times to be told what to do every step of the way but it would be easy considering all of the support. I'd make sure I was successful because there is no reason why I shouldnt. That is the way I would feel if I was in the shoes of a prodigy.

Character Analysis of Shaurice Hayes

The peer that I have decided to write about is someone very close to me and her name is Shaurice Hayes. Me and her have been bestfriends for about a year and a half and we have been dating for almost six months. She is very dedicated to the things she puts her mind to. She has her priorities in the right places. She is beautiful and she has a one of a kind personality in which I love. She knows when to be mature but usually otherwise she is very outgoing and can be immature at times but that is just another thing I love about her. She is very intelligent and is a quick learner. She is also very athletic which is really cool. She always has a smile on her face and her smile can turn anyones bad day into a good one. Shaurice and I have grown very close and are side by side through everthing. Life can be difficult at times but its people like this that is the real beuty of life.

“Everyday Use" Character to Person Comparison Paragraph.

Dee and I are very loving towards our families. A huge difference between us is that Dee is very spiritual, while I am not. She believes strongly in her religion and practices it very often while I have a religion I practice but not as strongly as she does. We both would put our siblings ahead of ourselves and show them love before ourselves. I have never had a house of mine burn down while she has and had to adapt to a house change. I only adapted to house changes by moving but never in a tragedy like her. Dee cares very much about her mother while I care for my family, but not so much my mother. These are things Dee and I have in common and some of the things that make us different.

Everyday Use from Dee's point of view

I am a very spiritual person. The things that I believe in I value very much. My sister and I survived a house fire in the last home we lived in. My sister got burned and now stays at home with our mom. I have a husband who believes in the same beliefs as me. I am pending on what I should change my name to because the name I currently have is of the whites. I am very caring about my family, especially my sister. Me personally, I did not like the home that got burned down and I was kind of glad to see it burn down. I respect my elders and my family.

Every Day

A tradition that is very important to me and my family is our family reunion. It is a gethering of all our family at a park in Yorba Linda, California. We gather every year in the month of September. It is a huge park with tons of things to do. I would pass it on to my next generations because it is a great way to keep a family together and give them a day to look forward to in the year to meet up with their family and have fun. I personally have loved the days our family reunions took place. They were some of the funnest days of my childhood. I would want my next generations to enjoy the same. So this is what I would pass down.

Character Prior Knowledge Paragraph about Tom Benecke

The character of Tom Benecke is a very hard working man who is dedicated to his job and bettering himself for a better life. He also is a man who is not certain on where his priorities are when it comes to his relationship. He is a very loving man who is just unsure what should come first to him in life. The purpose of this character is to show the every day struggle within humans to recognize where there main priorities are and to arrange them in the right order according to them. It is to make men or women understand the importance of things in their life and to make sure to think thoroughly on which ones are more important to others. This is the character of Tom Benecke.

9/11 Memory

When the tragedy of september eleventh occured I was playing in a flag football game. I was on a team named the Browns and I remember it was a Tuesday because game days were only on Tuesdays. We lost that game by two points but I scored my first touchdown of the season. I did not know about the twin towers until I got home and even then I did not know what to think of it. I honestly felt that it was no big deal because it didn't happen anywhere near me. It was all over the news channels so it was hard to avoid it. Back then it was not a big deal to me but now that I'm older and understand things more I realize how tragic that day was.

Summer Day

One sunny summer day in Anaheim, California there was a kid named Garret. He lived in a rundown apartment with no air conditioning and no heater. During the summers in Anaheim it would get really hot. So with no air conditioning it was hard to be able to relax. Garret had always promised his mom he would get her a nice house when he got a job and take care of her until the day she died. So three years later Garret decided he wanted to pursue a career in baseball and he was one of the better kids on his team. He stuck to his hard work and determination and ended up making it to the majors and making millions of dollars. His first check he bought his mom a house and personalized it to the way she wanted it.

Rat & The Cafe

There was once a mouse named Jaykae. He loved tuna. So one day he had a master plan to steal some tuna from the Cafe down the street, but it was too far of a walk for him. He then began sorting ideas on logical ways to get to the Cafe without walking. He attempted to get in the muffler of a car and jump out when he gets close but he figured it was too dangerous. So he decided to get a ride with a man who rides his bike down the street every day with his son. The man would pedal while his son was in a carriage attached to the back of the bike. Jaykae then jumped in with the man's son and the son fell in love with Jaykae. So he asked his dad if he could keep him and they went to their house and the first meal they gave him was Tuna.

Psychiatric Center for Research on Regressive Tendencies

I am headed to a phschiatric center for taking a walk in the middle of the night. As we are approaching our destination in the car I begin to think what life has came to. How technology has taken over the world. The office pulled me out the car and I seen a huge building that was made of solar panals so that they can receive energy from the sun. Their doors open automatically and the doors had metal detectors to make sure nobody is smuggling in guns. As I walked inside I was expecting to see a secretary but instead their were work robots that speak like humans and think like humans except they do not have emotions. They were there strictly for work. A robot walked me to my small room that I will be staying in. It was full of motion sensors and each of them had a different job. They could tell anything from my heart rate to what I'm thinking. I began to observe everything being that I will be living here from now on.

" Purpose of "The pedestrian"

The purpose of the book is to show imagination of what can happen in the future with the huge growth in use of technology. People will be more lazy and it will affect a huge amount of the population. They will be stuck and glued to their enhanced T.V's and video games. The book is saying that the change in the future can be worse for us. It could change the world. It is also telling the story of a man who was different then the rest of them. They showed what would happen to them. That is the purpose.

Life in 2053

I think that life in 2053 will consist of a lot of technology. I think everything will be enhanced by technology from the range of cars, to lamps, to t.v's, anything and everything will be based around technology. Army weapons will be very dangerous and have double the power of what they do today. Nucleur weapons would be so dangerous that it could blow away a whole continent. By then we will be in the greatest economy U.S.A has ever been part of. It will be heaven that has only been seen to this day in peoples dreams.

Poem Analysis

There are very alike qualities in the poem and the story. In both stories the characters have to make important choices on how they choose to live their life. They have to prioritize their life the way they feel it needs to be. One is stuck with choosing between work and his wife, while the other chooses between work, love, and friends. It is true in reality because some people have to make those hard choices when they have very little time and so many different things they can be doing. Life is full of hard choices and these two stories are perfect examples of that. Life is all about choices and what you make out of them.

To Die For

My most valuable possession, I guess you can say, is my girlfriend. There is not a thing I wouldn't do for her. We always have fun together and enjoy the time we do spend even if it is not much. We have our arguments but at the end of the day everything is perfect. Without hesitating I would die for her. When you really care about something there is no reason you wouldn't do anything you can for them. That is my most valuable possession and someone I would die for. She is by far the closest person besides my dad that I have.

Plot Change

If I was in Tom Benecke's shoes I would have never climbed out the window. I would of went to Home Depot to buy a stick that could reach the paper instead. I would not risk my life for a piece of paper. The plot would change a lot if he were to never step out the window because he would not have had time to think about his priorities and made the decision to spend time with his wife. He would of proceeded with his life the same way that he was. The plot would change dramatically if he never left his window.

Paralyzed By Fear

One day I was jumping off the roof of my mom's car to slam dunk a basketball into the basketball hoop. It was a cloudy day with rain showers coming and going throughout the day. Before I got on the roof of the car I had been waiting for almost 30 minutes for the rain to stop. It finally did. I decided that I was feeling very energetic and I could make a jump that was lower to the ground and further from the hoop. The rim and backboard still had rain on it from the showers just minutes before. I grabbed the ball and without thinking about it, I jumped for the rim. I was in the air and as I was getting closer to the rim I thought to myself "I'm going to make this jump easily". I had thought wrong. My hand had reached the rim but I was a little short of getting my whole hand grasped on. I held on to the rim too long and it sprung up and launched me into the air. It wasn't raining water at the time but it was literally raining people. I landed on the cement straight on my head. I layed there in shock because I did not know what just happened. I was scared because I instantly became tired and I was worried that I could die. I wound up losing my vision and blanking out. To this day I do not remember being taken to the hospital and being treated by doctors. When I regained consiousness, I was standing in the middle of the hospital hallway with a sprite in my hand and dressed in nothing but a hospital gown. My mom then filled me in on everything that had happened. I will never forget the day that I, Marcus Bradshaw, the toughest guy on the block, would be paralyzed by fear.

My Decision

At the stage of my life that I am in today, where fun is hard to come by, I would choose to hang out with my friend rather than doing homework. I rarely get to enjoy myself here on this campus. A lot of times feeling depressed but covering it up with a smile. The only thing that has kept me constantly happy here at SPA is my girlfriend. She can bring happiness to me instantly. Every second I spend with her is fun. If she or my best friend showed up at my house, I must say that I would choose them over homework without having to think about it. I get my homework done even though I do value my friends more so I really don't worry about staying at home to do it. The decision I would make without hesitation would be to go with my friend.

Free Post

Since the age of seven, I knew I wanted to be a Major League Baseball Player. That is the only thing to this day I am for sure about. The first little league team I was on, we won the championship. It was the funnest experience I have ever had and I will never forget it. I had a great coach and great teammates who always go along. I dream of one day playing for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. I have went to hundreds of Angel's games and had the funnest times of my life there. They will always be my favorite team until the day I did. My favorite player of all time does not play on the Angel's though. His name is Prince Fielder and he plays on the Milwaukee Brewers. My most memorable day at Angel Stadium was game 7 of the World Series! They won that day and the whole city of Anaheim went crazy! It was only me and my Dad who ended up going because my mom and my two brothers chose to go to disneyland instead. I must say that day was the best day of my life and just gives me one more reason to love the sport of baseball.

A Birthday to Remember

A Birthday to Remember

January 29th, 2008, a day I will never forget. It was my 13th birthday and my grandparents threw me a huge party because I was turning to a teenager. I had a seventy-five dollar ice cream cake from Baskin Robins. They paid three-hundred dollars to rent a jumper for my brother, my two friends, and I. They gave me hundreds of dollars to go shopping for clothes, and at that time I had my life made easy. That day was the perfect day, but right before bed we decided to go on the jumper for some late night fun. We were wrestling in the dark and having the most fun of my life. Then they decided to gang up on me because I was the “birthday boy” While they tackled me to the ground, my friend Gordo landed with all his weight on my foot and ended up breaking my pinky toe. I couldn’t walk in shoes for three weeks after that! It was a great day even though I got hurt. I don’t regret it because it was all in fun. That was my birthday to never forget!

My Embarrassing Moment

Most Embarrassing Moment

I have had many embarrassing moments in my life but the one that stands out the most in my memory is an incident I had during a spelling bee. It was the district spelling bee that I had reached in my fourth grade. I had just one first place in my school so I was sent to districts. I made it into the late rounds and I was very nervous. As I was walking up to the middle of the stage I tripped and fell over the microphone in front of hundreds of people. I got up as quick as I could but I knew there was no avoiding the laughs of all the audience in attendance. I was so embarrassed and kept thinking about my trip, I wound up thinking about it too much and misspelling my next word. I was eliminated from the district spelling bee and went to the audience where my mom was watching. We then left and went home but I could not stop thinking about my fall. The next day at school all my friends starting joking around with me and gave me the nickname “kid who tripped at the bee”. I was called that name for the rest of the year and still to this day have not forgotten that embarrassing incident. But now thinking back at it I tend to find myself laughing.

A Weekend to Remember

The weekend of August 7th, 2010 I went to the movies with my housemates. We went to see the movie The Other Guys with Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg. It was a hilarious movie to enjoy with friends. While leaving the movies I ran into my old roomate Jose. It was good to see him because me and him had a really close friendship before him leaving San Pasqual Academy. That following day I played basketball games in the gym with many of the other students at SPA. We had some good games that were really intense. In the first two games I got the game winning shots which was pretty fun. To top it all off, I got my computer to work again for me which gave me a huge relief because I have tons of important documents on my computer. This weekend was a very fun and eventful time for me. This was my weekend to remember.

First Day Blog Post

The first day of school was pretty fun. I always find it interesting to see who all is going to be in my class for two quarters. Most of the classes that I have seem exactly the same as they were last year. Ms.Davis is the only new class that I have. I really think that I will be able to pull off a 4.0 GPA in one of the four quarters this year.

Last Day in Summer School

Today I watched some really cool videos on people jumping from space, people swimming for twenty minutes in the North Pole, and a legendary coach speaking about true success. It was all on ted.com under the sports section. It was all great.

Summer School Time

During my free time in summer school now that I am done with everything, I choose to read about sports athletes. I have read about players like, Kobe Bryant, Dustin Pedroia, J.j Redick, and Derek Jeter. All of their lives and life stories are interesting because it doesn't matter what kind of kid you are or how you grew up. It's about being the best at that particular sport. Many people strive to be just that but very few make it. Hopefully im one of those few.

"Brain Break"

Today during my beloved brain break, I looked up the record of the Anaheim Angels Major League Baseball team and found out some heartbreaking news. They are behind three and a half games due to the lucky hot streak that the Texas Rangers have got into. But none the less the Angels have won seven of their last ten games. They have been very consistent as of late considering that their best power hit had a devastating injury due to a walk off home run celebration that he broke his foot doing.

Summer School

Summer school is the most boring class I have ever had to take in my life. I am just trying to get everything done early so i can get out of this class as soon as possible with no problems. I have never spent four hours worse than the four hours I spend in summer school. I'm just praying it can all go by fast.

APA Format

APA format is for citations on quotes of people that someone used in their research paper. A citation is when you give credit to an author for writing the quote about the person being researched. A writer needs to cite a source when they use the exact words that the author used about the person. When someone uses a direct quote they need to put a exact author name but if it is summarized then you only have to write the book it came from. A reference page is a page stating all the websites or pages you looked at for research and you create it on your own. APA is needed for citing all the authors and books all your imformation came from.

Yesterday was a crazy day. My brother ended up going to the hospital because of an allergic reaction to an unknown object. I caught up on a lot of homework but I still ended up on 2-Hour. There was a little drama but it didn't make a difference on my day. I felt bad about my brother and I was worried for him. I watched Baseball and ESPN a lot yesterday. I watched the movie Training Day last night and it is my favorite movie of all time. Mainly because Eva Mendez is in the movie but im not going into those details. That is everything I did yesterday.

Prom & BBQ

Prom for me was pretty fun. I enjoyed myself and I really enjoyed the dinner because it was delicious. I tore my plate up! The brownie they had for desert was also good and the rolls just blew my mind! Overall the night was really good. My date was just the cherry on top. The BBQ was super fun. The whole day I enjoyed myself. My favorite activity was the basketball games because I was really into it. Me and Joe led our team to the win against the sophemores. Well this is how I feel Prom and the BBQ went.

Benefits & Downfall of Blogs

The use of blogs in school can be both either a benefit, and a downfall. From my opinion I feel like it is a downfall because it is very tough for people like me who have not had much experience with technology and is not familiar with what they are working with. I have been in school for nine years now and i have never had a class other than Technology that we had to use computers in. I honestly thought Language Arts class would be the absolute last class I would ever have to use computers in. On the flip side of the downfall it is also good for note taking because it is much easier and faster to type than it is to write on a piece of paper. The Internet can provide many more ways of doing projects. I honestly dislike using computers in class but many other people, I'm sure, both agree and differ with my opinion and they have that right. This is my opinion on whether blogs in class help the cause or make it worse.

Principal
Mr. Ron Major
San Pasqual Academy
17701 San Pasqual Valley Road
Escondido CA, 92025

Dear, Mr. Ron Major:

I am writing to inform you about how the majority of us students on this campus feel about the rules of 7th period. In order for us to go, we should have two or three missing assignments not just one. Since you are the principal I am coming to you with this situation because you helped make up this rule.

I would like to see this change occur because not everyone is perfect and even the best students from time to time miss an assignment. It happens to many people. It is much more different if someone had a handful of assignments missing, but one is really not a big deal.

Thank you in advance for considering this topic and putting a lot of thought into where I’m coming from. I look forward to a more relaxing school environment and not having so much stress over just one assignment, Thank You, This will make a huge difference.

Sincerely,

Marcus B

Greetings Daughter of the Bradshaw residents. You have been elected to talk to your father about cyber predators can catch on to anyone and it just might catch up to YOU! No I’m just kidding daughter but I need to explain to you how to keep away from Chester the Molester or Craig from down the street. Markiisa I just want you to limit out the information you give online. Don’t put your address, your phone number, your school, and especially not your picture. It could save you so much trouble if you do the right things when it comes to being online in chat rooms and talking to other people. You are my only daughter and I don’t want anything to happen to you that what take you away from me or endanger you. Please I just need you to understand why this is important and why you shouldn’t do this. Its not that I don’t trust you or anything I just had to let you know and take all the precautions I can. If some guy would of tricked you into meeting him then it would just be a tragedy to the whole family. Just be smart about this. I know you are very smart and very aware but I needed to let you know. Ok thanks just please hear me out for what I’m trying to tell you. Thank you markiisa and be good to your mother. I will be home in a few days I am just here in Toronto finishing up on these last baseball games. Talk to you soon.

The best feeling is to feel the vibtration of a pine oriented stick hit the round guber core of a white thrown object traveling at 95 miles an hour. It is the feeling of swinging a Major League Baseball bat at a Major league baseball licenced baseball of the major leagues. To feel the rip of the air until you feel the hard but echoing tingle in your hands. You get the view of a ball destined to fly over 300 feet in the view of a tall fence where huge mobs of people are lurking upon the field to see the stars of the ones feeling this great feeling because very few are lucky to get to it.

"American History" Newspaper

The day JFK died was a very eventful day for Elena. Elena was on a playground at Public School Number 13. She was skinny and had a low self esteem due to her "flat chested body". Eugene is a boy that Elena had a huge crush on. Him and his family lived in the only house on the block with a fence and trees. He is tall and has blond hair and also wears glasses. He read books for hours at the kitchen table. Eugene and Elena know each other because they go to the same school. They lived in the city of Paterson, New Jersey on the corner of straight and market. She lived in El Building and he lived in a house on the same block. On this same day of November 22ND, 1963 John F. Kennedy had been assassinated in Houston Texas. It was a US tragedy. This day is important to Elena because she met Eugene on this day and it was important to Americans because the president that they had thought was finally going to bring good to America had been Assassinated. A sad day for most Americans but some people managed to still make it a good day.

My Career Day

Today was career day and I thought everything was very interesting. I spoke with people from K1 Speed, Palomar College, and A spokesperson from the website called California Career Zone. The most interesting of the three is the website. It was the most interesting because it allows you to see how much money I will need anually by rounding up the things I may buy. It really gives people an idea of how much money they will need for their expenses. Everything was interesting but that was the one that caught my attention the most. It was a fun substitute for school.

My Earthquake Experience

Once upon a time, in a city far away from the bottom of the ocean, lived Escondido, California. I was in the exact location of 1701 San Pasqual Valley Road 92025. I was scared out my mind! An Earthquake of a 7.2 magnitude sent waves from my brain to my body to signify I was scared. I was in the Boys Rec of San Pasqual when it had hit. It rattled the walls, shook the glass on the windows, dropped weight bars from its sturdy hanger, and floors looking as if they are about to crack. I was scared that just like in the movie 2012 that our fate was going to be similar in tragity. I really believed that it was yesterday that the world was going bye-bye. I thought it was signify the end is coming in 2010. 2 years ahead of its "due date". Lets just hope we are prepared if it does come sooner.

Ten-Second Soundoff

Yesterday was a very boring day. I got my allowence and got like $70 from people who owed me. I got into some trouble and got on restriction from Thomas. My girlfriend is mad at me. She has a good reason to be but me and my friend were bored and we were txting someone to see how we could get out of someone and I won the bet. Good but bad night.

What I'd Do

If my friend mentioned to me that he or she was planning on meeting up with some stranger online I would try to talk that person out of it. The first thing I would say is “Why would you do that when you have friends like me and your parents.” I would try to run them in a guilt trip and make them feel bad about what they are doing. I would try to also insure that person that things will get better in life and everyone has there up and downs but when you fight through the tough times you will get to see the bright side of things when it’s all said and done. I will do my best to get that person out of the danger like any Good friend would!

My "Bless Me Ultima" question

Do you believe the murder of Lupito was the right thing to do?

Most annoying comment

The most annoying comment I have ever heard is "get to work" it annoys the crap out of me. I just hate hearing those words I just feel like leaving and not do any of the work at all. I think I know when im supposed to be working and if I'm not working then so beat it let me be its my choice. My favorite quote is "I'm not doing anything" because it reminds me alot of my self.

My Dream House

My dream house will consist of 22 rooms. Only because 2 is the best number and I'm not only going to have 2 rooms so it will be 22. I will have 2 game rooms, 2 living rooms and 2 sports rooms. I will have a baseball museum inside. In every room on the 5th story there will be a water slide in every room that leads to the swimming pool in the backyard. Then I will have something for my 2 little Marcus Jr's to have fun with. Nobody can top the ideas I have for my house.

Yesterday I went off campus with my casa and we went to wal-mart. Then after that we went to del taco where i enjoyed 2 quesedillas with red sauce and 1 taco and a small lemonade. Last we went to Coldstone ice cream and i had a chocalate ice cream with gummy bears and marshmallows and white chocalate chips in it. It was yummy. It was all for my birthday. When I was a child, my favorite song was "Crossroads" by Bone Thugs & Harmony. It was my favorite because I just liked the sound at the beginning of the sound and it just stuck with me. When i here that song now it brings back the memories of me and my mom sitting in the car driving back home listening to the song.

"Rhyme Zone" Poem

I have been playing baseball for many years

When I step up to the plate pitchers have many fears.

I hit homeruns like no tomorrow

The opponents ask “do you have another ball I can borrow”.

I steal bases like the U.S in Iraq

Ask any fan and they will say that’s a fact.

Reading my poem I bet you are impressed

Meet me at the field and I will put that to the test.

My winter vacation was very interesting and fun. I spent most of it with my friends in Idaho. My friends there are some of the best friends I have ever had because we have always got along and found interesting things to do. I seen my dad for the first time in a while. We had a good time talking to each other and catching up. I stayed at my grandparents house and they got me a lot of presents. But just being together with all my friends and family was good enough. I wouldn"t trade my friends or family for anyone in the world. I had a good time.
